I must start by saying that Lainey is the sweetest little lady you will ever meet. She is an incredibly relaxed and easy going infant, her baby blues are downright amazing, and her smile is highly contagious! I had a blast photographing her while in Oregon visiting my dear friends. In fact, that was the first time I got to meet Lainey and she stole my heart that weekend!
As you know, my husband and I love to travel. One of our latest trips was to the Pacific Northwest visiting with friends who live in Seattle and Idaho. We had an amazing time exploring the city of Seattle, eating a variety of delicious food, and simply biking around the city taking it all in. We took day trips to Whidbey Island and Mount Rainier National Park for some incredible hiking, and sight seeing. The last weekend we were there we headed to northeast Oregon to meet our friends who live in Idaho. We had a fun time catching up, taking in the local fare and meeting Miss Lainey for the first time. She is an absolute doll and I loved watching my friends be parents for the first time!
As Lainey’s auntie, I took advantage of snuggle time and loved on her as much as I could that weekend. I loved seeing her little personality shine through, bonded with her as much as possible, and even day dreamt about what the coming years may bring. It was a wonderful feeling to be with friends in a new place, experiencing new things together, and seeing their little family grow. I was beyond excited to capture their family moments, too.
Just like most photographers, I am honored when a friend asks me to take their family photos. Since I don’t live near any of my long time friends or family, it’s a rare opportunity for me to be able to capture the love and lives of people closest to me. Because Renee has been one of my closest friends for many years, I was extremely excited to document this milestone for she and her family.
Since none of us had been to Baker City, Oregon before, we didn’t know what to expect for landscape or photography session locations. Thankfully we got lucky, and the rental house that we stayed in had a beautifully landscaped back yard with gorgeous evening light. We were able to capture this entire family session without leaving our yard, and by using some fun textured pillows, blankets, and fabric from the house.
As you can see in the photographs, Lainey did an amazing job for this session. She shared her sweet smile and lots of personality with me. I was beyond honored to be capturing these moments, and being able to make Lainey smile and laugh in the photos by myself, melted my heart. This little girl showed her love for me and truly stole my heart!
Throughout our weekend I was grateful for the time spent with my friends and little Lainey. It’s not often that we see one another and I soak up as much connection as I can when we are fortunate enough to. I cannot wait to see this sweet family again and hopefully capture another milestone soon! ♥
