We had a beautiful morning at Biltmore in Asheville for Krista and Brice’s engagement session! The grounds were quiet, the air was still, and the warm sun was shining down, welcoming us to the day. 

To start off our session we met at A Gardener’s Place just past the Walled Garden on Biltmore grounds. I love meeting here for sessions as it puts us right in the middle of the area in which clients want photographs. This spot is right next to the Conservatory and Walled Garden, near the brick tunnel and Azalea gardens, and a short walk to both the main house and Bass Pond. There are so many wonderful photography options nearby that it’s challenging to get to all of them during one session! 

As you know, Biltmore grounds are always stunning. For me, they are especially stunning first thing in the morning. I always try to be one of the first few dozen cars on the grounds in the morning, regardless of what time of year it is. There is something about the added stillness and quiet that makes that time of day much more impactful for me. It’s as if I can better envision what it was like to be a guest there 100 years ago, and I love every minute of it. Of course I love sharing that time of day with my clients, too!

During our session we wandered our way through many gardens, the front lawn, the brick tunnel, and the conservatory. Krista and Brice did a phenomenal job relaxing and showing their love in front of my camera, right from the start. They are a gorgeous couple and let their strong connection shine through right away.

After we finished photos in the gardens, we headed down near the French Broad River. This was one area that Krista and Brice wanted photos taken, particularly in the bamboo patch near the Lagoon. I am familiar with this area both when I am with clients, and when I am exploring on my own, however Krista and Brice showed me something new. They brought me into the bamboo patch for the first time and I could quickly tell that this area is rarely touched. It was an amazing experience to be in the patch with the sunlight peeking through the bamboo stalks. Both Krista and Brice love looking up to the sky when in the bamboo patch, and I quickly learned why- it’s absolutely gorgeous! The tips of the bamboo are beautiful up against the blue sky, and the streaming light dances among the stalks! The next time you’re on Biltmore grounds in Asheville, NC, I highly recommend stopping in to see this beauty for yourself! 

As you can see, Krista and Brice's engagement session at Biltmore was amazing! We had a lot of fun photographing throughout the grounds and capturing this special time in their lives.
