These two love birds made a trip to Asheville for their elopement and it could not have been a more fun day! The sun was shining, the creek was flowing, and the birds and butterflies were very active, surrounding Tracy and Bill in their magical moment.
The Botanical Gardens was a perfect setting for Tracy and Bill’s elopement. It was quiet and private, the sweet sound of the flowing creek made for natural melodies, and most of all, their children surprised them seconds before their ceremony began! That’s right! Their grown kids also made the trip to Asheville to be present for their parents’ elopement! Isn’t that the sweetest?! Throughout their elopement planning, Tracy held on to a BIG secret, and we all know that’s extremely challenging with all of the moving pieces of a wedding! Tracy organized the arrival of their kids from all over the country, to surprise Bill. If you know me, I love surprising people, and I love being a part of anyone’s surprise! It was a delight to watch Bill’s reaction and excitement of seeing the kids step out from behind the bushes by the creek, as well as feeling the support and love they brought along with them.
When I spoke with Tracy a few weeks before her wedding day, she described to me how relaxed and natural she wanted the day to feel. I assured her that choosing the Botanical Gardens in Asheville was a fantastic choice for her wedding location, and when she arrived at the creek for the ceremony, the first thing she did was kick off her shoes and put her toes in the water! She truly wanted to be immersed in nature when sharing her vows with Bill, and thankfully that’s exactly what she got! For the ceremony, Tracy and Bill chose to stand on a rock in the creek, under a beautiful arched bridge with the soft sound of water flowing by. The sun peeked out of the clouds, the breeze was light, and cardinals and butterflies flew around them during their vows. It truly was a magical moment.
After the ceremony Tracy and Bill enjoyed a toast and snacks with their kids, all while donning the most beautiful and excited smiles! We took a few minutes for additional couples photos in the creek and some family photos, before they were off to enjoy their weekend with their surprise guests!
We had a beautiful and heartfelt afternoon in a gorgeous natural setting, and I was thoroughly honored to capture this special day! Congratulations Tracy + Bill!
Update: Tracy + Bill's wonderful review on Wedding Wire:
"We planned our destination elopement from the laptop and WOW did we score with Jessica! She's a doll! Not only did she take time to get to know our personal style and preferences, what hobbies we shared and how we met but she also brought a quiet but engaged presence to the wedding itself. Jessica knows how to be right there for the shot and yet not at all in the way. She caught the joy and the happiness of our wedding without requesting or interrupting a thing. Not only that but she was willing to show up a hour early on short notice to beat the rain! She provided us with more shots than we expected and each one is personality plus. How to choose?! Highly recommend Jessica."
