Oh 2019, you have made my heart SO full! Seeing so many families grow in front of my lens is an honor! Capturing their sweet love, excited laughter, and extreme joy is simply amazing. 

Each year I say it’s the best year, but that’s good right? That means that each year I continue to photograph full time, is a year better than the others. In case you haven’t heard me say it in a while, I LOVE what I do! I am in love with being a family photographer in Asheville and meeting new families and capturing their connections with one another. From older siblings who know how to perfectly push each others buttons, to welcoming a new baby into the family and watching big brother’s heart grow right in front of me, I love it all! It’s that truth, that natural reaction, and that raw emotion that I love to capture for my clients. Capturing all of this is real life. It’s the things we want to remember about one another, and ourselves. It’s real, it’s true, it’s natural, and it’s all captured and frozen in time to relive later on. Doesn’t the idea of that just make your heart melt?!

This past year has taken me to some beautiful homes and some really cool local spots for family photography sessions. One spot and family session I will never forget is hiking up to Craggy Gardens with the Kirk family dressed to the nine’s for their family photos, to help celebrate Andy and Anna’s 10 year anniversary. We had a beautiful and warm early summer evening with rhododendron blooming and a gorgeous sunset. Each member of the family donned a classy outfit which paired perfectly with the little bouquets and boutonniere’s I brought. It was a very special evening for this family, celebrating together, just as it’s meant to be. I was truly honored to capture and be a part of this special time.

Just like this session, many more were unique and fun, just the way I like it. Capturing families in a place they are comfortable is what I strive for. It lets their true connections shine through even more, making incredibly beautiful and natural photographs.
