For photographers, behind the scenes photos of ourselves are rare. After all, we can’t take photos of ourselves while in the middle of a busy wedding day! So when we are working with a second shooter, a videographer, or even a planner who takes time to capture a few shots of us, we are incredibly grateful! 

It’s always fun to share behind the scenes photos with y’all, because honestly, it’s impossible to know what a photograph is going to look like when we see a photographer pointing his or her camera at a subject. Each photographer has a different style and intent for a subject. That’s what makes us all so fantastically different! 

This different approach is also what makes for such an array of incredible images across the industry. Each photographer has their own lighting style and composition style. That’s why when photographers get together to collaborate on a styled shoot and photograph the same subjects, our photographs are so unique that they are easy to tell apart. It’s one of the amazing things about being an artist- we create our work exactly how we love to view it, and we get to share our work with people who love how we see it, too!

When you look through the photos below, you will see the behind the scenes photo on the left, with the finished photo on the right. The outcome is incredible, isn’t it? Even though I took the finished photographs on the right, I cannot tell exactly what I am trying to achieve in the photo on the left. Being an artist is being free to create as I wish in that moment, and I absolutely love that!
