If you live near Asheville, or have visited this area much, you know that we get a lot of rain during the summer. Almost every day rain storms pass through, which makes it very hard to plan anything, especially an outdoor surprise proposal! Two days ago however, sunshine, blue skies, and cooler temperatures showed up perfectly for Adam + Bev’s proposal at Biltmore Estate!
Adam contacted me weeks ago about photographing his proposal. Due to work schedules and life events, plus the fact that this Biltmore visit would only be a day trip from Knoxville and the weather was iffy almost every day, he didn’t have an exact date for when they would be coming into town. So when he contacted me again last week with a date and the weather looked clear, I agreed that we just go for it! I’m so glad that we did!
In talking with Adam leading up to his proposal, he thought Bev would likely be anticipating getting a ring during their day at Biltmore. He still wanted to surprise her as much as possible though, and he knew that she would love the idea of capturing the moment on camera. So as I often do, I was there ready with cameras strapped on, pretending to take photos of the surrounding architecture and trees as they approached the wisteria covered pergola by the tennis lawn. As Adam and Bev walked past me to the opposite end of the pergola, Bev didn’t even notice me there since I blended right in with other guests. When Adam turned to Bev and said his sweet words, I moved in for the best angles. Adam then got down on one knee and asked his big question. It got such an amazing reaction out of Bev that the passersby who paused to let them have their moment, then clapped and cheered when Bev said yes! It was truly incredible and I was beyond honored to capture it!
I absolutely loved the reaction and emotion on Bev’s face during and after the proposal! She and Adam are so incredibly happy together and their sheer excitement shines through in all of their engagement photos! It truly was an honor to capturing this amazing time for them.
Congratulations Bev + Adam!
