This incredibly fun family was a blast to photograph, just as I knew they would be! I have photographed them once before, right in the same spot, their front yard here in Asheville! I always have lots of fun with them. They are full of SO MUCH joy and it’s definitely contagious, don’t you think?!

These kids have fun everywhere they go and I love their outlook on life! Playing in the dirt- fun! Smelling flowers- fun! Touching sap on a pine tree- fun! Holding a photo frame of a captured moment from last time we were together- so fun! Swinging in the hammock- extra fun! Snuggles with Mom and Dad- oh so sweet and fun! It’s always amazing to try to see life through a child’s eyes, and these two make it extra exciting!

Beyond the snuggles and fun I took a few minutes to capture their parents by themselves. During every family session I encourage parents take a moment and be in a photo together without their kids. Most say something like ‘ohhh... I don’t know’ or ‘I don’t think we need any alone.’ Yes, yes you do!

You do because the moment you turn away from your child and walk toward your partner your body language changes. It loosens up, you visually become more vulnerable, your smile becomes true, and any stress you were holding from trying to keep your kids on their best behavior dissipates. Simply, you become you. You become who you were when it was just the two of you, when life had fewer worries and less responsibilities. You become the person who cannot hold back that sweet smile when you look your partner in the eyes for one quiet moment. That quiet moment is everything, it’s the moment you connect with your partner, and you truly feel it. It’s when the magic happens and you deserve to have it documented!

This beautiful couple experienced it a few days ago, and it was so deep that even I could feel it. In a short moment when Nick turned to Heather and pulled her closer, she couldn’t hold back her smile and incredible moments happened. Moments that are beyond beautiful and say so much about the two of them and the life they have together! And now, they will forever have these moments through photographs.

Just say yes! Say yes to photos that you will absolutely love and cherish for the rest of your lives, whether they are with your kids or not, say yes!
