Let’s talk adult family photos! Many families think they don’t need them because everyone is grown, they have lots of cell phone photos, and they recently got a quick snap at a cousin’s wedding. I say, let’s schedule a full session for some updated photos!

Documenting your grown family is just as important as documenting a young family. Sure, as adults we don’t change as quickly, but photos should still be taken every few years!

For this family below, they just had a few family photos taken a year ago when one of the girls got married, but wanted a full session to include their new son-in-law. How sweet is that?! Plus, scheduling a full session means fun photos of the sisters together, cute couples photos, and taking time for each parent to love on their adult kid. Seriously, what parent doesn’t want to hug their adult kid for some photos?!

My own extended family of 11 recently had a photo shoot with the amazing Nicole Lockhart Photography while I was visiting them in upstate NY. It was something we hadn’t done in a few years. My niece and nephews are all teenagers and my parents and siblings told me that they’ve all been taking lots of photos on their cell phones. As you can tell, I convinced them it wasn’t enough and goodness, we are all so happy we had this photo session! Nicole was awesome and the photos are fabulous! My Mom called me right after she viewed the photo gallery and told me, “Jess, they’re very good, but I found 44 that I want to order.” She said it like it was a problem, and I assured her that this was fabulous! I of course told her to order everything she wanted, and be sure to order them right through the photographer’s gallery so that she got the best quality prints possible. I cannot wait to see what my Mom creates with all of the new photos she loves!

As you can see, I am a huge encourager of family photos throughout our entire lives. When our parents and grandparents are gone, we are going to wish we had even more photographs of them, even if we take photos every year!
