If you’re dreaming of a weekend away when you ask your partner to marry you, I highly recommend considering Asheville, NC as your destination! Being nestled in the mountains of North Carolina, this gorgeous little city is full of many amazing things, like top notch restaurants, gorgeous mountain views, the historic Biltmore Estate, cute and romantic accommodations, and of course, endless beer. It’s a weekenders dream, and taking a romantic engagement trip to Asheville is, well, so romantic!
Asheville is known for being nestled right in the mountains of western North Carolina with gorgeous views and many outdoor opportunities at its fingertips. This fits the bill for many couples, because if you’re more of a viewer of the mountains, there are places for that. For example, a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway with stops at overlooks can be magnificent. It allows a couple to stay relaxed and take in all of the beauty. If you’re more of an adventurous couple who wants to hike or chase waterfalls, there are places for that, too! Can I start with “Yum!”? From romantic dinner restaurants that serve the most amazing food, to cute and quaint breakfast spots, Asheville has it all! There is no end to incredible food options, whether American style cuisine, or International. You can see my personal favorites at Things To Do in Asheville, NC and Where to Eat.
Biltmore is our biggest attraction here in Asheville, and there are many reasons why. To start, it’s BEAUTIFUL! From the impressive mansion home that overlooks the mountains to the west, to the expansive world renowned gardens that bloom almost all year, it’s an attraction worth visiting! It’s fun to imagine what life was like there over 100 years ago, and to explore the 8,000 acres that descendants of the Vanderbilt family still own. This is an absolutely amazing place to get engaged, and here are some tips on how to do so, How to Propose at Biltmore Estate.
Of course! I highly recommend capturing your engagement proposal itself with photography! This moment that you are planning has taken a lot of thought and organization, and you probably want it to be perfect! Plus, it’s a once in a lifetime moment that your closest friends and family will want to see. Don’t worry, I am happy to offer my expertise and guide you with my curated list of location ideas. And when you hire me to capture your proposal, you won’t even know I’m there. Since I do this often, I am very well versed with being nearby when you arrive at your chosen spot, but pretending to take photos of trees, architecture, etc., and seemingly have no idea who you are or what you're doing. Then when you start to propose, I can quickly spin around and capture the entire thing! It’s seamless and I absolutely love it! Asheville has been named Beer City USA for its delicious brews by more than 50 brewers. In this small city, 50 breweries is a lot, and sure makes for a fun afternoon of exploring a neighborhood like the South Slope or River Arts District on foot.
If you’re more of a wine drinker, there are lots of wineries nearby, too! These spots are set just outside of town, and typically offer a more relaxed atmosphere with open landscapes and often mountain views.
As you can see, Asheville has so much to offer for a romantic engagement weekend! There are many amazing options, and if you’re like me and you’re not sure you’re making the right choices, for a small fee, you can hire local planning help! Summer at Juniper is a native to the area and curates custom itineraries so travelers can experience the very best of our area, and find the perfect restaurants & activities, curated just for you. She can even go as far as to purchase tickets and make reservations for you! She provides an incredible service and you can find out more here, Juniper Services for Travelers.
