Craggy Pinnacle Engagement Proposal Photographer in Asheville | Haley + Zach Session Preview

These two lovelies had the sweetest proposal on a mountain summit just outside of Asheville, NC! The views were epic, the air was crisp, and their love was abundant!

When Zach contacted me a few months ago about proposing marriage to his girlfriend Haley, he told me that they were planning a week long trip to the area, and that he wanted to propose in a scenic spot overlooking the mountains. And goodness, did we choose the most perfect spot for them! East of Asheville on the Blue Ridge Parkway there is a series of overlooks and short hikes to see sweeping mountain views. One of my favorite short hikes in this group is Craggy Pinnacle. It never disappoints, and it was certainly truly amazing for Haley and Zach’s proposal! Even though it was cloudy and we did not see the sun set, the views went on for many miles, and even though it was somewhat cold and windy, Haley and Zach’s love warmed up the entire mountain!

Not only did their love warm us all up on the inside, their humor did, too! A funny story about this proposal… as I was hiking up to the summit of Craggy Pinnacle to get set up to capture their mountain top engagement proposal photos in Asheville, I passed them on the trail. First I passed Zach who was standing on the side of the trail and I gave him a silent wave. Then, about 50 feet ahead I passed Haley, who was walking back down the trail toward Zach. As soon as she passed me (not at all knowing who I was or why I was heading to the summit), she yelled to Zach, “I have to be honest, babe. It’s pretty steep up here and I don’t want you to hurt your ankle more!” I paused. Was this true? I pulled my phone out of my pocket to see if Zach had texted me and needed a change of plans. He hadn’t. Then it hit me, might he be fibbing to Haley to stall her? I wasn’t 100% sure, but since we had an exact time and place for the proposal, and I hadn’t heard from Zach about needing to change plans, I continued up the mountain and got my gear out and ready. I waited, and waited, and waited, and right on time, Haley and Zach walked up the final steps to the summit. They were stunned by the gorgeous view, and Zach’s absolutely beautiful proposal went on as planned. He held Haley from behind, spoke his sweet words to her that made her start to cry instantly, and then took a step back and got down on one knee. She very quickly said “Yes!” with a huge smile on her face! It was beautiful!

So, what was the ankle thing all about? Well, I asked him after his proposal and he said that they got to the trail too early and he needed to stall. So, as they started up the trail, he abruptly told Haley that he had just rolled his ankle so that they could walk really slowly to burn time. Too funny! Haley told me all about her side of being tricked and how she even helped him get over a few logs! I absolutely love the ingenuity that Zach used to help make his proposal happen seamlessly!
