Asheville Engagement Proposal Photographer at Lake Powhatan | Ann & Connor Surprise Proposal Preview

This beautiful couple shared the sweetest proposal among the morning fog at Lake Powhatan in Asheville, NC. Mother Nature provided us with such a unique setting and I loved capturing these amazing moments for them!

Surprise proposals don’t always go as planned, because, well, they are a surprise after all, and half of the people involved don’t know that it’s coming. When a photographer is involved, one person has to come up with a plan to get their partner to a specific place at a specific time for this specific thing. If there is a problem along the way, or something happens that isn’t expected, the person who planned it all pretty much has to roll with it. Changing plans for a surprise proposal at the last minute when a photographer has been hired is nearly impossible, without ruining the surprise anyway. Though Connor’s engagement proposal to Ann went perfectly in the case of getting her to the specific place at the specific time for the specific thing, the weather didn’t fully cooperate. Connor loved the spot he chose because of the quietness at sunrise, and the beautiful mountain view. Thankfully, we got half of his wish. It was very quiet and no one else was around, however we didn’t get the mountain views. On this particular morning, fog hung low over the lake, obstructing the view that Connor hoped for. I agree, it would have been nice to have the view, but what I loved about not having the view, was the unique weather scenario that we did have for this photo shoot! The fog became a bit lighter just before Connor proposed, allowing us to see all the way across the lake, and allowing for the row of green trees to be seen. I LOVED the beautiful and soft light that the fog provided us, and that their proposal was encapsulated by this foggy mist. This weather scenario created such a unique and beautiful setting for this sweet, quiet, and cuddly proposal. I truly think that Mother Nature was looking out for us, and provided this amazing setting for these two cuties!

Their cute cuddles and sneaky kisses among the fog and mist made for incredible proposal photography! I loved getting to know Ann and Connor and adored capturing their love!
